Ripatransone
It is located at an altitude of 494 meters on a hillside between the low valleys of the Tesino and Menocchia rivers. It is an agricultural centre (cereals, wine, forages and fruit) with shoe, wood, wine and building materials industries. It is also a popular holiday destination.
There is much evidence of the medieval city including part of the fifteenth century walls, the palace of the Lord (1304), the Cathedral (XVI-XVII centuries) built on a plan by Gaspare Guerra (inside there are valuable paintings and wooden baroque carving knifes), the seventeenth century churches of San Filippo and Santa Chiara, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, with the bell (1598) and the crypt (XIV century). In the Town Hall, rebuilt in the seventeenth century, there is a museum and gallery (collection of ceramics, coins and medals; and a beautiful table by Vincenzo Pagani).
