The Sibillini
I Monti Sibillini
Il Monte Vettore
Lago di Pilato

Sibillini: mountains standing in the heart of Italy to reach, with the Monte Vettore,  2476 meters.
Here, in the mythical realm of Sibilla, that in 1993 it has been created the Sibillini Mountains National Park (over 70,000 ha) with the aim of safeguarding the environment, promoting sustainable socio-economic development and encourage the use of any category of people to create a park for all.
Wolf, golden eagle, peregrine falcon and numerous endemic species are the most obvious signs of a diversity and biological richness that, combined with the charm of abbeys and medieval city centers, scattered way of a crown at the foot of the mountains, have contributed to determine an ancient and evocative world, where time seems still to have stopped to pay homage to a reality of so extraordinary beauty.
Here are the common form part of the Park: AcquacaninaAmandolaArquata del tronto, Bolognola, Castelsantangelo sul NeraCessapalomboFiastra, FiordimonteMontefortinoMontegallo, Montemonaco, Norcia, Pievebovigliana, Pievetorina, Preci, San Ginesio, Ussita and Visso.

The Sibillini were known as the medieval kingdom of demons and Necromancers.  Among the many legends, the most famous are those of the Sibilla, the illustrious prophetess who lived in a cave and that one of Pilato that his lifeless body was dragged by some buffalo in the waters of the demonic lake (Lake of Pilato) located in downstream through the mass of Vettore. Not far away lies the Gorge of the Infernaccio, very nice to be seen.
