The Montefeltro is a historical region of northerncentral Italy situated between Marche, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and the Republic of San Marino.

Montefeltro is a land for the most mountainous and hilly with the presence of various woods that give to the unspoiled landscape an unusual scenery for tourists accompanied by unique colors and perfumes.

The Regional Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello is a protected area established by the Marche region; this picturesque area rich of unique landscapes is situated in the heart of the Montefeltro between Marche, Tuscany and Romagna and presents reliefs that go up to 1,415 meters. The park was established in 1994 and its major reliefs are the Sassi Simone and Simoncello, Mount Canale, Mount Carpegna and Mount Palazzolo which have shares ranging from 670 m to 1415 m. above sea level. This particular area includes 20 municipalities, all unique because rich of scenery and activities that are of great interest to tourists; these areas are called: : Belforte all’Isauro, Carpegna, Casteldelci, Frontino, Lunano, Macerata Feltria, Maiolo, Mercatino Conca, Montecerignone, Montecopiolo, Montegrimano, Novafeltria, Pennabilli, Piandimeleto, Pietrarubbia, San Leo, Sant’Agata Feltria, Sassocorvaro, Sassofeltrio e Talamello.

In this geographical area the agriculture and forestry, crafts, small and medium industry and tourism co-exist in an area of outstanding beauty. The economy of the Montefeltro is still mainly agroforestry with various food products that have achieved much fame at national level such as formaggio di fossa, the prosciutto of Carpegna without forget the raising of the white truffle of Acqualagna.
